Process design. We use GT Pro software by Thermoflow Inc. as well as proprietary and in-house programs to prepare heat balances and preliminary designs for major equipment such as gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, and fuel gas compression. The software facilitates the preparation of accurate flow diagrams for gas turbine-based cogeneration schemes. Apex Cogen's experts have a broad-based background in plant design which facilitates tie-ins to a host's facility. We can offer specialty consulting in fuels, combustion technology, heat recovery, utilities layout, district heating, boilers, hot oil and glycol systems, and underground piping systems.

High voltage engineering. Apex Cogen offers considerable high voltage expertise for inspecting and procuring generators, transformers, relays and switchgear, and designing electrical inter-connections between electrical generating stations, substations, plant distribution systems, and utility electrical grids. Our engineers have handled voltages from 32 kV to 220 kV on power plants around the world from desert terrain to the sub-arctic.

Digital controls systems. Digitally-based programmable logic controllers ("PLCs") have become the system of choice for modern power plant systems. PLCs allow fast response to load and fuel variations, increase system reliability, reduce operating costs, and improve fuel efficiency. A modern, digital system allow easy interface with plant distributed control systems ("DCS"), and facilitates installation of emissions reduction equipment.
