Fred Smith, P.Eng. is President of Apex Cogen. He has more than 35 years of experience in the development and execution of projects for the power generation, cogeneration, resource, and energy industries. Prior to co-founding Apex Cogen, he was President of a cogeneration consulting company that advised clients such as Westcoast Energy, BC Hydro, Grupo Gentor, S.A., AGC Project Development, and AGC Manufacturing Services (Applied Global Cogeneration) in the evaluation, acquisition, and development of power plant projects in Canada and internationally (Russia, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Syria, Argentina, Paraguay, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Greece, Slovakia). His career includes senior management and executive positions in utility, energy, and engineering/construction companies in Canada and the U.S.
Mr. Smith has a B.Sc. in Construction from the University of Florida, and completed the University of Florida Engineering/Industries Co-operative Education Program with Florida Power & Light. He is a registered professional engineer in the province of Alberta, and a member of the Canadian Society for Engineering Management (CSEM).
